HARTFORD, Conn. – Three Hamilton College Continentals scored goals in their 3-1 NESCAC win against the Trinity College Bantams at Trinity Soccer Field on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 26.
Season Update
- Hamilton (7-5-3, 4-4-2 NESCAC) has just one loss in its last nine matches dating back to Sept. 25. The Continentals are tied for fifth place with Connecticut College in the conference standings with 14 points. Hamilton has finished its regular season while the other 10 NESCAC teams have one match remaining.
- The Bantams (2-12-0, 0-9) extended their losing skid to eight matches.
How It Happened
- Charles Hawthorn '25 put the Continentals in front in the 25th minute. Hawthorn picked off an errant pass in Trinity's defensive end and sprinted into the box. He nearly lost the ball but regained control a few feet to the left of the penalty kick spot. Hawthorn turned completely around with the ball and hammered a right-footed shot into the bottom-right corner of the goal.
- Pandelis Margaronis '25 gave Hamilton a two-goal cushion in the closing seconds of the first half. The Continentals earned a corner kick and Ignacio Hahn '28 hurried to the left corner to take it. Hahn lined his kick to Margaronis, who was positioned on the near side of the six-yard box, and he flicked a header into the top-right side of the net with five seconds left.
- Hamilton took a commanding three-goal lead 3:16 into the second half. Patrick Ferrare '27 was taken down in the box and the Continentals were awarded a penalty kick. Ferrare was selected to take the kick and he buried it in the back of the net.
- Jack Murphy ended Hamilton's shutout bid in the 86th minute when he scored off a pass from Owen McDermott.

- Hawthorn registered his second goal this season and the 10th of his career with the Continentals.
- Margaronis has two goals in 2024 and six total at Hamilton.
- Ferrare tallied his third goal this fall, two of which have come on penalty kicks.
- Hahn recorded his first collegiate point.
- Finn Wheeler '27 made two saves in 77-plus minutes for the Continentals. Wheeler has a 0.97 goals against average and .796 save percentage.
- Felix Schmidt stopped eight shots for the Bantams.
- Hamilton held a 14-9 shot advantage.
- Both teams took four corner kicks.
- The Continentals are 8-0-2 in their last 10 meetings with Trinity.
