ROME, Ga. – Hamilton College men's tennis players
Connor Griff '25 and
Antonio Chavez '28 fell in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III doubles draw in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Cup at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College on Friday afternoon, Oct. 11.
Griff and Chavez are the first Hamilton tennis players that have ever competed at the ITA Cup. They qualified for this event by reaching the finals of the Division III Northeast Regional championships at Drew University in late September.
The duo ended the fall season with a 10-5 record after a 6-2, 6-2 loss against Tufts University's Alex Ganchev and Sacha Maes. Ganchev and Maes were finalists in the New England Regional championships at Tufts.
Griff and Chavez defeated University of Mary Washington's Evan Fisher and Brock Ladehoff by scores of 6-1 and 7-6 (6) in the first round on Thursday. The Continentals will return to the courts in March 2025.
