CANTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Connor Griff '25 won singles and doubles flight titles, and the Continentals kicked off the 2023 fall season at the St. Lawrence University Fall Classic, which was held at Sammis Tennis Courts on Sept. 9 and 10.
In addition to the hosts, Hamilton competed against players from Hobart College, Ithaca College, Rochester Institute of Technology, Union College and University of Rochester.
How It Happened
- In the A flight draw, Griff cruised through his first round and quarterfinal matches with 8-2 victories. He secured an 8-5 triumph in the semifinals and went on to defeat Ithaca's Nicolas Luis 8-3 in the final.
- Rookie Ignatio Tran '27 made a statement in his collegiate debut, winning three matches and reaching the D flight finals where he came up short (8-4).
- In doubles action, dynamic duo Griff and Anson Anderson '26 won four matches and secured the A flight title with an 8-3 triumph over Hobart's Sean Pesin and Jacob Linares.
- Charlie Sternberg '27 and Tran gave the Continentals a sweep of the doubles titles. They picked up an 8-4 win in a B flight semifinal before they battled to an 8-5 victory over RIT's Luke Weber and Max Chang in the final.
- Tarun Korwar '27 and Coby Feldman '26 made a run to the A flight doubles semifinals before falling 8-4 to Hobart's Pesin and Linares.

- Griff is already on the cusp of Hamilton's top five career singles wins list with 36.
- Anderson and Griff teamed up for the first time in their careers with the Continentals.
- Hamilton players combined for 19 wins in the singles and doubles main draws.
