Hamilton College outfielder
Phil Bernstein '23 (Brooklyn, N.Y./The Berkeley Carroll School) has been selected for the 2023 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-Region Team.
Bernstein is on the second team in Region 1 for the second straight year. He's one of five outfielders on the second team and one of 46 athletes honored in Region 1, which includes schools from New England along with a handful from New York.
Bernstein also made the D3baseball.com all-region team this spring. He led the Continentals with a .390 batting average, a .493 on-base percentage, 48 hits, 22 stolen bases, and 37 runs scored and was second with 22 walks. Bernstein added three doubles, a triple, two homers and 22 runs batted in. He started all 33 games and didn't commit an error in 51 chances. Bernstein holds team single-season records for total bases and runs scored, and is the only Hamilton baseball player with 100 career runs. Bernstein is sixth on the team's all-time list in career hits, is second in career stolen bases, batting average, and on-base percentage, and is fifth in career slugging percentage.
Bernstein helped lead the Continentals to an 18-15 overall record and a 6-6 mark in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) West Division. Hamilton tied for third place in the division and played in a NESCAC championship quarterfinal series for the second straight year. The Continentals owned a .315 team batting average.
