Herman '26 and Raichur '28 had two hits apiece for the Continentals

MEDFORD, Mass. – Tufts University starting pitcher Emmet Christian tossed five shutout innings and the Jumbos defeated the Hamilton College Continentals 10-3 in the 2026 NESCAC Baseball Championship quarterfinal series at Tufts' Sol Gittleman Park on Saturday, May 2.

Season Update

  • Hamilton (15-18 overall) was the No. 4 seed in the NESCAC West Division. The Continentals were playing in the quarterfinal series for the fourth time in the last five years.
  • The 21st-ranked Jumbos (27-9) clinched the best-of-three series in two games. Tufts, which edged Hamilton 7-6 on May 1, was the East Division No. 1 seed. The Jumbos improved to 20-3 at home.

How It Happened

  • Tufts put pressure on the Continentals right away with three runs in the bottom of the first inning on a four-pitch walk and three singles.
  • The Jumbos scored two unearned runs in the fourth for a 5-0 lead after the leadoff batter reached on an infield error.
  • Tufts made it an eight-run advantage with three in the fifth on an infield single, two walks and a two-RBI double by Tate Bannish.
  • Hamilton scored all three of its runs in the sixth inning, despite the Jumbos retiring the first two batters. Ethan Righter '27 singled to left field and Satish Raichur '28 bounced one up the middle for a base hit. Alfonso Rada '27 reached base and took second on an outfield error while Righter scored. Gianni DiCerbo '27 followed with a double to left that drove in Rada and Raichur, and the Continentals pulled within 8-3.
  • Tufts added another unearned run in the bottom of the inning and completed the scoring with a run in the seventh.
