WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Hamilton College tied for fourth place out of 10 teams in the 2023 NESCAC Men's Golf Championship at Martindale Country Club on Sunday, April 30.
Sunday's second and final round was reduced to nine holes when the course became unplayable in the afternoon due to heavy rain. The Continentals, who received votes in the most recent Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Top 25 coaches poll, recorded a four-man team score of 151 and finished the tournament with a 27-hole total of 455. Hamilton was in seventh place after Saturday's team score of 304.
Middlebury College ran away with the conference title at 439 and earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III championship. Amherst College and Tufts University tied for second place at 454. The Continentals ended up in a four-way tie for fourth with Williams College, Trinity College and Bates College just one shot back.
Ramon Aroca Gonzalez '26 fired an even-par 35 on the front nine and tied for sixth place out of 50 golfers at 5-over 111 for 27 holes.
Ryan Connors '25 carded a 38,
Billy Geach '23 shot 39 and
Will Whittaker '25 had a 40. All three tied for 18
th place at 115.
Ben Coffey '23 was another shot back in a tie for 22
nd place at 116 after a 39.
Hamilton captured its fourth NESCAC title last spring on their home course -- Yahnundasis Golf Club.
