AUBURN, Maine – Hamilton College is in seventh place out of 10 teams after the first 18 holes of the 2023 NESCAC Men's Golf Championship at Martindale Country Club on Saturday, April 29.
The Continentals, who received votes in the most recent Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Top 25 coaches poll, recorded a four-man team score of 304 and are just six strokes out of second place. Middlebury College is in the lead at 289, Tufts University is in second at 298 and Amherst College is third at 301.
Hamilton captured its fourth NESCAC title last spring on their home course -- Yahnundasis Golf Club. The tournament winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III championship.
Will Whittaker '25 led the Continentals in 13
th place out of 50 golfers with a 4-over 75.
Billy Geach '23 and
Ramon Aroca Gonzalez '26 were another stroke back at 76.
Ben Coffey '23 and
Ryan Connors '25 are tied for 21
st place with rounds of 77.
Hamilton players start teeing off in Sunday's final round at 10:36 a.m. with players from Williams College and Trinity College. Martindale CC has a par of 71 and is playing to 6,538 yards this weekend.
