Men's golf wins team title at Williams Spring Invitational

Continentals led once again by Aroca Gonzalez '26 and his round of 72 on April 22

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Hamilton College men's golf captured the 2023 Williams College Spring Invitational team title at Taconic Golf Club on Saturday, April 22.
 
The event was scheduled for 36 holes but Sunday's final round was cancelled due to heavy rain. The Continentals posted a four-man team score of 302, which edged runner-up Middlebury College by three shots. Amherst College was another stroke back in third place. All the teams in the NESCAC, except for Colby College, competed in the tournament.
 
Hamilton and Trinity College, which ended up in sixth place, received votes in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Top 25 coaches poll.
 
Ramon Aroca Gonzalez '26 earned his fifth individual medalist honor this season with a 72. He entered the weekend with an 18-hole stroke average of 72.40.
 
Billy Geach '23 and Will Whittaker '25 tied for sixth place out of 57 golfers with rounds of 76. Geach has shot under 80 in every round this season except for two. Whittaker carded a score in the 70s for the sixth consecutive round.
 
Ben Coffey '23 recorded a 78, and he has been under 80 in all eight rounds this season. Brian Healy '25, who was averaging 76.88 for 18 holes going into the weekend, added a 79.
 
Hamilton competes in the 2023 NESCAC Men's Golf Championship at Martindale Country Club in Auburn, Maine, on April 29 and 30.
