Men's golf places fifth in Skidmore's Tim Brown Invitational

Aroca Gonzalez '26 fired a 69 in the final round and finished third of 108 golfers

BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. – Hamilton College men's golf finished in fifth place out of 19 teams at the 2023 Skidmore College Dr. Tim Brown Invitational, which was held at Ballston Spa Country Club on April 8 and 9.
 
Scores were low in this early-season spring tournament and Hamilton posted a four-man team score of 294 on Saturday, but were just eighth in the team standings. The Continentals dug deep and went even lower on Sunday with a team score of 287 as they moved up three spots to fifth with a tournament total of 581.
 
Trinity College captured the team title at 564, Husson University was runner-up (569), nationally ranked No. 23 Babson College (574) landed in third place and No. 17 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (576) ended up in fourth place. Hamilton finished ahead of four other NESCAC teams in the strong tournament field.
 
Ramon Aroca Gonzalez '26 led the Continentals once again, finishing in third place out of 108 golfers with a season-best, 36-hole total of 139 after carding rounds of 70 and 69. The final-round 69 ties his best at Hamilton. Aroca Gonzalez entered the weekend with an average of 72.75 strokes for 18 holes.
 
Jaikrit Bhattacharya '26, who was playing in his first 36-hole event, tied for 25th place at 147 with rounds of 75 and 72. Ben Coffey '23 posted rounds of 74 and 75 as he tied for 40th place with a career-best 149. Coffey's first round score is also his best with the Continentals.
 
Billy Geach '23 tied for 50th place at 150 as he rebounded nicely from a 79 on Saturday with a 71 in the final round. Will Whittaker '25 recorded rounds of 75 and 77 for a 36-hole total of 152.
 
Ryan Connors '25 led 14 golfers playing as individuals in a tie for 15th place with a career-best 145, which included a collegiate-best 70 at Hamilton in the final round. Jacob Zeng '24 registered two rounds of 76 for a tournament total of 152.
 
The Continentals play a dual meet against Middlebury College at Saratoga Spa State Park Golf Course in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., on Sunday, April 16 at noon.
