MADISON, N.J. – Hamilton College's
Connor Griff '25 is still playing in the singles tournament of the 2023 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Men's Division III Northeast Regional Championships at Drew University going into Sunday morning, Oct. 1.
Rainy conditions throughout Friday and into Saturday morning wreaked havoc on the event and put everything behind schedule. Matches are being played outdoors at the Drew Tennis Complex and indoors at the Simon Forum.
Griff, who reached the semifinals of this event in 2022, has lived up to his No. 2 seed so far. He cruised to an 8-1 win in the first round and advanced to the quarterfinals with victories against Vassar College's Henry Zhang and Hobart College's Jacob Linares. Griff is taking on top eight seed Andy Zhu of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in the quarters on Sunday morning.
Griff and
Anson Anderson '26 were a top eight seed in the doubles tournament. The duo breezed to an 8-2 win in the first round and advanced to the quarterfinals with an 8-4 triumph in the second round. They were knocked out by the No. 2 seed from RPI, 8-2.
The other three Hamilton singles entries won their first round matches before they were eliminated in the second. Anderson defeated top-16 seed Yuval Goodman of Skidmore College, 8-6.
Tarun Korwar '27 received a top 16 seed and recorded an 8-4 victory over Vassar's Nolan Kubiak.
Coby Feldman '26 got past Drew's Jesse Faro 8-6 but was taken out by top-four seed Boran Zheng of New York University.
Feldman and Korwar were 8-4 winners in the first round of the doubles tournament. They lost by the same score in the second round to a top-four seed from Vassar.
