Three baseball players are on coaches all-region team

Bernstein '23 and Slinger '22 on second team, Harrast '23 on third team for the Continentals

Three Hamilton College student-athletes have been selected for the 2022 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-Region Team.

Phil Bernstein '23 (Brooklyn, N.Y./The Berkeley Carroll School) and Brady Slinger '22 (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell Academy) were placed on the second team in Region I while Ethan Harrast '23 (Oak Brook, Ill./Hinsdale Central HS) made the third team. A total of 45 players made the team in Region 1.
 
Bernstein hit .359 (52-for-145) in 36 games, all of which were starts. The outfielder led the Continentals with 12 doubles and four home runs, and set team single-season records with 80 total bases and 49 runs scored. He added a .552 slugging percentage, 28 stolen bases, 21 runs batted in, two triples and 21 walks, and handled 99 chances in the outfield without an error.
 
Slinger made the all-region team as a utility player as he appeared in the lineup in left field and the middle infield. He led Hamilton with a .411 batting average that included a team-record 58 hits in 141 at-bats. He also established team single-season marks with 37 runs batted in and 31 stolen bases. He topped the Continentals with a .553 slugging percentage, three triples and seven sacrifice flies as he played in all 38 games. He scored 41 runs, hit eight doubles and two homers, and finished with 78 total bases.
 
Harrast hit .381 (43-for-113) in 33 games played, mostly at shortstop. He led Hamilton with 22 walks and posted a .471 on-base percentage. He chipped in a .522 slugging percentage, 37 runs scored, 24 RBI, 20 stolen bases, nine doubles, two triples and 59 total bases.
 
Hamilton (21-17 overall) set a team record for wins in a season and made its first postseason appearance after the Continentals took second place in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) West Division with a 7-5 mark. Hamilton won its best-of-three NESCAC championship quarterfinal series with Trinity College and was one strike away from a conference title before the Continentals finished as runners-up to Middlebury College. Hamilton ended up ranked fifth in Region I by the NCAA.
