Hamilton College took three varsity boats to the 2022 National Invitational Rowing Championships held on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass., on Sunday, May 8.

The event doubled as the 2022 NESCAC Rowing Championships. Hamilton finished ninth out of 18 entries in the varsity eight and fifth out of six NESCAC boats.

The eighth-ranked Continentals posted a time of 6:04.433 and finished third in their heat of the varsity eight. That performance sent them to the petite final where they ended up third again with a time of 6:13.295. The University of Michigan took first place in the petite final in 6:05.580.

"The National Invitational Championship Regatta was a race experience that only our seniors have participated in after a two-year reprieve," Head Coach
James Lister said. "With over 20 teams from around the northeast, the caliber of racing was fast at all levels. All of our boats performed extremely well and raced up from their seeded placement in the morning heats."

Hamilton was fourth in its heat of the second varsity eight with a time of 6:28.146 and again moved on to the petite final where they landed in sixth place with an improved performance of 6:22.449. Bates College was victorious in this tight race with a time of 6:17.977.

In the third varsity eight, Hamilton finished fourth in its heat with a time of 6:55.031. The Continentals ended up in third place in yet another petite final with a faster time of 6:52.596. Boston College was the race winner in 6:41.373.
