Ninth-ranked Continentals host a regatta from their new boathouse on Saturday, April 16

Hamilton College finished first in the women's varsity eight petite final at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond on Sunday.

Racing conditions included a consistent cross/tailwind at the start with a steady 10 to 15 mph tailwind at the finish, and some chop but good water overall. Temperatures were in the 40s and 50s.

Hamilton ended up third in their second varsity eight heat with a time of 7:16.98 but advanced to the grand final where they took fourth place in 7:16.9. Wellesley College took first place (7:00.7) followed by Bates (7:01.95) and WPI (7:07). In the third varsity eight, the Continentals finished third out of three boats with a time of 7:45.56.

Hamilton hosts University of Rochester, Smith College, St. Lawrence University and Wellesley for a regatta from the Continentals' new boathouse on the Erie Canal on Saturday, April 16 starting at noon.

"It was another good test for our crews to see top-ranked teams in the early season, with Bates and Wellesley setting the standard," Head Coach James Lister said. "We made progress from last week with our race plan execution, and we have adjustments to make for our home opener on Saturday. We are excited to host our first race at the new boathouse. We have a boathouse celebration at 10 a.m. with an open house at 9 a.m."
