Hamilton College's Leah Basel '24 and Hannah Turner '26 led the women's track and field team at the 2022 Utica University Holiday Classic at the Hutton Sports and Recreation Center on Saturday.
 
Basel was runner-up in the pentathlon with 2,606 points. She took first place in the shot put with 8.28 meters (27 feet, 2 inches) and was second in the long jump with a leap of 4.92 meters (16 feet, 1.75 inches) and the 800-meter run with a time of 2:43.65. Basel finished third in the 60-meter hurdles in 10.29 seconds and tied for third in the high jump with a height of 1.35 meters (4 feet, 5.25 inches).
 
Turner captured second place in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:47.74. Claire Tratnyek '26 ended up third in the 300-meter dash in 44.20 seconds.
 
Lydia Mirabito '26 landed in sixth place in the shot put with a distance of 9.96 meters (32 feet, 8 inches), and was seventh in the weight throw with a toss of 11.95 meters (39 feet, 2.5 inches).
 
The Continentals are off for finals and the holidays before they return to Utica for the Pioneers' Winter Opener on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023.
