Dana Schwartz '26 finished in eighth place out of 22 athletes in the women's javelin throw at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at University of Wisconsin-La Crosse's Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon, May 23.
Schwartz, who was competing in the NCAA championships for the first time, recorded her best throw of 43.06 meters (141 feet, 3 inches) on her third attempt. It was more than seven feet further than any of her other five attempts. Schwartz finished less than nine feet behind the national champion.
Schwartz ranked seventh out of the 22 athletes who qualified for the national meet in the javelin with a team-record distance of 43.84 meters (143 feet, 10 inches). She accomplished that feat at the Monmouth University Season Opener back in late March.
Saturday marked the first time since May 2024 that Schwartz didn't finish first or second in the javelin at a meet.
