The Hamilton College Continentals competed in a three-way meet with Wesleyan University and Clark University at the Wesleyan Natatorium on Tuesday afternoon.
The matchup with Wesleyan went down to the last race as Hamilton was edged by the Cardinals by just 13 hundredths of a second in the 100-yard freestyle relay, and Wesleyan prevailed by two points (139-137). The Continentals cruised to their first win this season with a 231-29 decision over Clark. Hamilton is home at Bristol Pool for the first time this season on Saturday, Jan. 8 against Rochester Institute of Technology at 1 p.m.
The Continentals finished first in seven events and
Sam Karlson '23 recorded three of those victories. Karlson was a winner in the 25 free and the 50 free with times of 11.72 and 25.08 seconds, respectively, as well as the 200 free (1:59.48).
Lucy Hamann '22 picked up wins in the 25 backstroke and the 50 back with times of 13.32 and 27.91, respectively.
Emma Nordquist '25 captured the top spot in the 500 free (5:31.01).
Irene Keh '24 enjoyed a solid performance that included first place in the 100 individual medley (1:01.69). Keh was second in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 31.87 seconds and third in the 25 breast in 14.59 seconds.
Meredith Gioia '22 was runner-up in the 50 butterfly with a time of 27.35 seconds and landed in third place in the 25 fly in 12.53 seconds and in the 100 IM (1:03.15).
Marissa Duffy '25 grabbed second place in the 200 free (2:02.21),
Caroline Shen '24 was second to Hamann in the 25 back with a time of 13.62 seconds, and
Claire Campbell '22 ended up third in the 25 free in 11.97 seconds.
In diving,
Maggie Nye '24 was third in the 1-meter springboard with 160.10 points, and
Kathleen Deedy '24 was runner-up in the 3-meter board with 152.60. Â
