MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Hamilton College Continentals finished in fifth place out of 11 teams at the 2026 New England Small College Athletic Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Championships inside Wesleyan University's Webster Family Natatorium on Sunday, Feb. 15.
Hamilton's showing in the team standings was its best in this championship since 2004. The Continentals racked up 854 team points over the course of the four days.
Most of Hamilton's drama was saved for the time trials.
Jade Matthias '26 broke a team record and made an NCAA championships 'B' cut in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.33 seconds. Sam Karlson '23 held the old record of 23.42 seconds, which she set in 2023.
Matthias was part of a 200 free relay that improved its NCAA 'B' cut time and edged the team record by one one-hundredth of a second with a time of 1:33.86.
Chloe Lan '28, Carolyn Miner '27 and
Paige Wielgus '28 completed that relay.
The Continentals ended up in fifth place in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:28.99 that made an NCAA 'B' cut and tied the team record from three years ago. Matthias, Miner, Wielgus and
Gianna Cofone '27 were on the relay.
Hamilton finds out on Feb. 26 if any of its swimmers are selected for the NCAA championships.
