The Hamilton College Continentals won eight events and defeated Amherst College in a men's track and field dual meet at Hamilton's Pritchard Track on Saturday afternoon.
Hamilton scored 69 team points while Amherst recorded 52. This was the Continentals' first outdoor meet since May 16, 2019, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 4x100-meter relay of
Josh Harmsen '23,
Corey Jones '23,
Will Richardson '21 and
Saleh Eltayeb '24 took first with a time of 45.15 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay of Richardson,
Aaron Kraus '21,
Max Steffey '22 and
Lucas Wright '21 won with a time of 3:24.81.
Harmsen went on to win both the 100-meter dash (11.05 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (23.19 seconds). Rounding out first place finishers was
Andrew Harrell '23 in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:00.66, Wright in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.54,
Bram Mansbach '24 in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:38.48 and Eltayeb in the triple jump with a mark of 13.09 meters (42 feet, 11.5 inches).
Second place finishers included Steffey in the 1,500 meters in 4:00.76,
Quinn McGrath '24 in the 200 meters in 27.04 seconds,
Nick Lyon '22 in the 5,000 meters in 15:50.04 and
Owen Scott '24 in the high jump with a mark of 1.77 meters (5 feet, 9.75 inches).
Eltayeb and McGrath took second and third, respectively, in the 100 meters with times of 11.38 and 11.50 seconds. Richardson placed second in the 400-meter hurdles in 56.36 seconds. Kraus placed third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.49 seconds, Eltayeb took third in the long jump with a leap of 6.56 meters (21 feet, 6.25 inches) and McGrath was third in the triple jump with a mark of 12.47 meters (40 feet, 11 inches).
Hamilton is back in action on Sunday, May 2 at Williams College in Williamstown, Mass.
