Women's soccer goes to Amherst for NESCAC Championship weekend

No. 17 Continentals will play No. 14 Wesleyan in Saturday's second semifinal

The nationally ranked No. 17 Hamilton College Continentals travel to Amherst College in Amherst, Mass., for the 2021 NESCAC Women's Soccer Championship semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 6.

Hamilton will take on Wesleyan University at 1:30 p.m. after Amherst hosts Middlebury College in the first semifinal at 11 a.m. The winners will advance to the final -- also at Amherst -- on Sunday, Nov. 7 at noon. The winner of that match earns the conference's automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship.

The Continentals are 13-1-2 overall and are the No. 3 seed for the championship after they finished the regular season in third place with a 7-1-2 NESCAC record. Hamilton defeated Tufts University 1-0 in the quarterfinals on Oct. 30 and is in the semifinals for the second time since the Continentals joined the conference for soccer in 2011. Hamilton is ranked third in the region by the NCAA.

Wesleyan is ranked 14th in the Division III Top 25 coaches poll and second in the region by the NCAA. The Cardinals are 13-1-1 overall and are the No. 2 seed for this event after they finished the regular season tied for first place with an 8-1-1 NESCAC record. Wesleyan defeated the Continentals 3-0 at home on Oct. 23.

Amherst is ranked 12th in Division III and first in the region by the NCAA. The Mammoths are 14-1-1 overall and are the top seed for the championship after they finished the regular season tied for first place with an 8-1-1 conference record.

Middlebury received votes in the national coaches poll and the Panthers are ranked fourth in the region by the NCAA. Middlebury is 12-3-1 overall and is the No. 4 seed for this event after it finished the regular season in fourth place with a 6-3-1 NESCAC record.
