Box Score Hamilton College's Lauren Hamilton '22 and Olivia Seymour '22 scored two goals apiece in the Continentals' 17-6 NESCAC road loss against the nationally ranked No. 13 Bowdoin College Polar Bears on Saturday afternoon at Bowdoin's Ryan Field.
The Continentals (0-2, 0-2 NESCAC) recorded 21 shots, were successful on 16 of 18 clear attempts and picked up 16 ground balls. The Polar Bears (2-1, 1-1) had 32 shots, were 13 of 15 in clear attempts and recorded 21 ground balls.
Tessa Ryan '21 and Charlotte Wynn '20 scored Hamilton's other two goals. Alyssa Bonanno '21 and Eva Abel '22 led the team in ground balls with three each while Maeve Luparello '23, Emma Knoll '20 and Ryan all had two apiece. Seymour won three draw controls, Sarah Moore '22 won two and Wynn won one. Luparello made eight saves and caused three turnovers while the two Polar Bear goalies made a combined eight stops as well.
Ryan put the Continentals on the board first at the 27:35 mark in the first half for a 1-0 lead. Bowdoin scored four goals in three minutes to take a 4-1 advantage. Seymour scored her first goal on a free-position shot with 17 minutes left and Hamilton scored 2:08 later and cut Bowdoin's lead to one at 4-3.
The Polar Bears made it 5-3 with 6:15 remaining in the first half. Seymour scored her second goal with 2:56 left before Bowdoin recorded three more goals and headed into halftime up 8-4.
Bowdoin opened the second half with nine straight goals for a 17-4 lead with 6:55 left. Hamilton scored her second goal with 5:05 to go and Wynn scored with 1:18 remaining.
The Continentals are home Saturday, March 14 for a NESCAC game against Connecticut College at noon on Steuben Field.
