Amherst College's Maia Noyes scored three goals and had one assist and the nationally ranked No. 9 Mammoths recorded an 11-2 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals in the season opener for both teams at Hamilton's Withiam Field on Sunday afternoon.

Skyler Simson '20 and Lauren Hamilton '22 scored the two goals for Hamilton while Olivia Seymour '22 had the assist on both. Simson recorded her 48th career goal while Hamilton had her 16th. Sarah Moore '22 led the team with four of the Continentals' seven draw controls, Emma Knoll '20 picked up a team-high four ground balls and Sophie Cote '21 caused two Mammoth turnovers.

Hamilton's Maeve Luparello '23 made seven saves and collected three ground balls in her first collegiate start. Amherst goalie Talia Land also stopped seven shots.

Amherst scored five unanswered goals in the first half for a 5-0 lead at the break. The Mammoths scored two more goals 90 seconds apart early in the second half for a 7-0 advantage.

Simson put the Continentals on the board with 20:47 left in the second half. Seymour had the ball behind the goal and found Simson in front and she snuck in through the Mammoth defense to put it in. Amherst scored again nearly three minutes later for an 8-1 lead.

Hamilton scored a man-up goal with 16:47 remaining when Seymour made a diving pass from behind the net to Hamilton who beat two defenders to make it 8-2. The Mammoths scored three more goals within four minutes late in the second half -- the last one on a free-position shot with 4:12 to go.

Hamilton will travel to Brunswick, Maine, on Saturday, March 7 to play Bowdoin College in another NESCAC game at noon.
