The Hamilton College Continentals split a pair of matches, including a 6-3 victory against Stanford University, at Amherst College on Saturday.
Hamilton (1-7 overall) defeated Stanford in the morning and fell 9-0 to host Amherst in the afternoon. The Continentals are 30th in the College Squash Team Rankings while Stanford claims the 36th spot and Amherst is 23rd.
Rufus Somerby '22 recorded his first collegiate win in three games at the second position. At the third position, Atticus Jones '19 defeated Juan Sarmiento in three games. Tristan Chaix '20 got his first win of the season in four games at the fourth position. Oliver Constable '22 battled for a win at the fifth position in four games.
Jarrod Gerstein '20 won his match in easy fashion at the sixth position in three games. Will Nocito '22 put on a show at the seventh position with a win in five games. Nocito got out to a two games-to-one lead but dropped the fourth. He finally put the match to rest with a tense 12-10 triumph in the fifth game.
The Continentals host Colgate University on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. and then play Fordham University at 5. The team will celebrate its senior athletes as those matches are Hamilton's last ones at Little Squash Center this season.
