Men's squash wallops Wesleyan, moves on to Summers Cup semifinals

Continentals defeated the Cardinals for the second time this season

PHILADELPHIA – The Hamilton College Continentals won three matches in three games and three more in four games in their 8-1 victory against the Wesleyan University Cardinals in a Summers Cup quarterfinal at the 2026 College Squash Association (CSA) Divisional Team Championships inside Arlen Specter US Squash Center on Friday afternoon, Feb. 27.
 
Hamilton (10-10 overall) edged Wesleyan 5-4 at home back on Jan. 10. The Continentals were 23rd in the Feb. 23 CSA varsity team rankings and seeded third in the Summers Cup draw. The Cardinals were 26th in the varsity team rankings and the sixth seed in the Summers Cup draw.
 
Jacob Shulman '26 (first position), Atreyus Bhavsar '26 (second) and Tobey Suratt '26 (third) were Hamilton's winners at the top of the ladder. Bhavsar collected his 24th career victory and Shulman his 17th.
 
Joseph Applebaum '28 (fourth), Jacob Li '29 (fifth) and Lucas Walden '28 (sixth) triumphed at the middle of the ladder. Walden trailed his opponent two games-to-one, but rallied with wins in the fourth and fifth games.
 
Carlo Caffuzzi '27 swept his opponent in three games at the eighth position, and William Gianopulos '29 outlasted his opponent in five games at the ninth position. Caffuzzi improved his record to 7-4 including 4-2 against NESCAC opponents. Gianopulos extended his match win streak to eight and has a team-best record of 13-6.
 
The Continentals take on St. Lawrence University in the Summers Cup semifinals on Saturday, Feb. 28 at noon.
