The Ithaca College Bombers snuck past the Hamilton College Continentals with a 5-4 non-conference win at Ithaca's Wheeler Tennis Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
Sam Farber '20 and Rob Dotterer '21 outlasted Minos Stavrakas and Colten Lavery 8-5 in first flight doubles for their team-leading ninth win of the season. Matt May '21 and Eamon Gibbons '21 won the third flight 8-2 to give Hamilton (4-11 overall) a 2-1 lead heading into singles play where Ithaca -- ranked 20th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Region Team Rankings -- mounted a comeback.
Max Zimmerman '21 defeated Colten Lavery in third flight singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-4 for his fifth straight victory. Tim Derby '21 was leading his fourth flight singles match in the first set when his opponent, Max Prestwich, retired due to injury.
Farber dropped his first set 6-1 in first flight before forcing a tiebreaker in the second set against Stavrakas, who is ranked 16th as an individual in the ITA regional rankings.
The Bombers clinched the match in an exciting sixth flight between Matthew Haas '19 and Lorenzo Vigue-Ramos that extended to three sets and included two tiebreakers.
The Continentals are back on the courts on Saturday, April 28 for their final home match of the season when they host Connecticut College in NESCAC action at 10 a.m. at Tietje Family Tennis Center.
