The Hamilton College baseball team split a NESCAC West Division doubleheader against the Williams College Ephs at Williams' Bobby Coombs Field on Saturday afternoon. The Continentals won the first game 6-5 before dropping the second 2-1.

The Continentals (13-13 overall, 3-4 NESCAC West) and Ephs complete the three-game series with a single game on Sunday at 11 a.m.

Game One: Hamilton 6, Williams 5

Dean Rosenberg '18 was perfect at the plate with two hits, two walks and one run batted in. Matt Zaffino '21 and Ethan Wallis '21 both went 2-for-3, and Nate Goodman '20 went 2-for-4. Craig Sandford '19 walked three times with two RBIs, and James Nish '19 batted in two runs with a double.

Gavin Schaefer-Hood '21 started the game and gave up five runs on seven hits and two walks and he had five strikeouts for his third straight win on the mound for the Continentals. Chris Keane '20 gave up one hit in the sixth inning and Ian Nish '19 closed the door with three consecutive groundouts in the seventh for his fifth save of the season.

Adam Dulsky and Erik Mini both went 2-for-2 with one walk for Williams (7-15, 3-5) and combined for three RBIs. David Swan added two hits and an RBI. George Carroll started the game and worked through 3.1 innings, allowing three earned runs on three hits and seven walks for the loss.

After two scoreless innings, Hamilton struck first in the top of the third inning with two outs. Zaffino, Rosenberg and Matt Cappelletti '21 loaded the bases with three straight walks, and Carroll administered another walk to Sandford to give the Continentals a 1-0 lead.

Williams grabbed a 2-1 lead in the bottom half of the third when Jack Roberts hit an RBI-double to center field and scored when Dulski singled to left field.

Hamilton took back the lead with three runs in the fourth inning. Goodman and Wallis started the inning with back-to-back singles and Lee dropped down a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners to second and third. Wesleyan's Woolley entered the game in relief and James Nish blasted a bases-clearing double down the right field line, later scoring off Rosenberg's single to right center.

Wallis connected with a run-scoring single for Hamilton in the fifth inning and Sandford hit a sacrifice fly to right field for another run in the sixth to increase the Continentals lead to 6-2.

In the home half of the sixth inning, The Ephs attempted a comeback when Dulsky walked and Erik Mini scored him with a double to right center before Hamilton's Keane came out of the bullpen. Keane allowed one hit that scored Mini, but Hamilton got out of the inning with a 6-5 lead when Sanford threw out David Kwan trying to stealing second base and an infield popup.

Game Two: Williams 2, Hamilton 1

Williams scored one run in the third inning and one in the fourth for a 2-0 lead. Adam Regensburg was hit by a pitch in the third, advanced to second when Mike Stamas grounded out and moved to third when Tom Benz hit an infield single. Regensburg then scored off Roberts' single to left center. Frank Stola scored the Ephs' second run of the game after reaching first on a fielding error and Kwan doubled to center field.

Hamilton got on the scoreboard in the fifth inning when Graham McOsker '21 was hit by a pitch, moved to second on Goodman's sacrifice bunt and scored when Wallis singled to center field.

McOsker accounted for Hamilton's only other hit in the game with a double in the seventh inning as Williams' Jack Bohen pitched the best game of his career. The junior threw all nine innings while recording 10 strikeouts and walking four batters. Roberts led the Ephs at the plate with two hits and one RBI, and Kwan hit a double with an RBI.

Brian Lawson '20 started the game for Hamilton and gave up just one earned run on four hits and one walk and he had four strikeouts for the loss. Keane and Nish kept Williams scoreless through the final three innings.
