Derby '21 prevails in singles and doubles in men's tennis setback

The Hamilton College Continentals dropped a non-conference match against the Oberlin College Yeomen by a 6-3 score at the USTA National Tennis Center in Lake Nona, Fla., on Monday.

Hamilton (0-5 overall) will be back on the courts on Thursday, March 22 at 6:30 p.m. when they take on Grinnell College at the USTA National Tennis Center. Oberlin (5-6) is 38th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association national team rankings.

Tim Derby '21 was victorious in both singles and doubles play. Derby was a winner at fourth flight singles for the second match in a row as he outlasted Manickam Manickam by scores of 2-6, 6-2 and 10-8. Derby and Max Zimmerman '21 posted their second win as a doubles pair during the Florida trip. The duo edged Manickas and Michael Drougas 9-8 (5) at second flight doubles.

Eyad Nagori '18 is 2-for-2 in singles play in 2017-18 after he defeated Cam Cohen in three sets (6-3, 1-6, 10-8) at fifth flight. Nagori has 19 singles victories in his career with the Continentals.
