The Hamilton College Continentals downed Connecticut College 7-2 in the first round of the 2018 NESCAC Men's Squash Championship on Friday at Little Squash Center.

The Continentals (6-8 overall) are the seventh seed for the tournament and are No. 26 in the College Squash Association (CSA) rankings. The Camels are the 10th seed and ranked 30th by the CSA.

Hamilton will face No. 2 seed Bates College in a NESCAC quarterfinal at Little Squash Center on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 9:30 a.m.

Hamilton's Colin O'Dowd '19 secured his ninth win of the season at the first position, defeating his opponent in three games that included 13-11 and 12-10 decisions. Callum Sondhi '20 was also successful in three games, defeating his opponent at the second position by scores of 11-4, 11-6 and 12-10.

In his first trip to the NESCAC championship John Sawyers '21 came from behind at the third position to win in four games, closing out the match with a 14-12 victory. Tristan Chaix '20 dominated his opponent at the fifth position in three games, and Atticus Jones '19 came out on top in four games at the sixth position.

Ward Urban '18 was victorious in four games at the eighth position and William Jordan '20 breezed to his eighth win, defeating his opponent in three games at the ninth positon.
