The Hamilton College men's squash team split a pair of NESCAC matches away from home on Jan. 13 and 14.

The Continentals (4-3 overall) clipped Wesleyan University 5-4 on Sunday afternoon, one day after they fell at Connecticut College by the same score. Hamilton is No. 26 in the College Squash Association rankings while Conn. College (3-4) is 29th and Wesleyan (3-5) is 30th.

John Sawyers '21 and William Jordan '20 defeated their Conn. College and Wesleyan opponents at the fourth and ninth positions, respectively. Both players improved their records this season to 5-2. Sawyers dropped just one game in his two matches while Jordan was extended to five games by his Conn. College opponent.

Both matches were competitive as only three of the nine Wesleyan matches were decided in three games. Tristan Chaix '20 was victorious in four games at the fifth position and Atticus Jones '19 swept his opponent at the sixth position. Nicholas Conzelman '20 may have made the difference against the Cardinals as he prevailed in five tough games, clinching the win 11-9 in the fifth.

The contest with the Camels was hard-fought as well with just three matches ending in three games and three going the full five games. Colin O'Dowd '19 was a winner in three games at the first position as he clinched the victory with an emphatic 11-2 triumph in the third. O'Dowd has won 27 matches in his career with the Continentals. Callum Sondhi '20 emerged with a win at the second position after he was edged in the first game 14-16, won the second 13-11, and closed out the match in the fourth, 12-10.

Hamilton has a busy weekend coming up as the Continentals take on Colby College and Haverford College at Amherst College on Saturday, Jan. 20. Hamilton plays Massachusetts Institute of Technology at Mount Holyoke College and visits Amherst the next day.
