The Hamilton College baseball team cruised to a 12-5 non-conference win over the host SUNY Polytechnic Wildcats Tuesday afternoon at Peter A. Spina Field in Marcy. The Continentals improved to 11-12 on the season.

Tuesday's game was a late addition to the Hamilton docket after the Continentals' Tuesday game at nationally ranked No. 6/6 SUNY Cortland was postponed because of the Red Dragons' scheduling conflicts.

Hamilton jumped out to a 12-1 lead, pounding out five extra-base hits. Kenny Collins '17 led the offense with a single, double and four runs batted in. Ryan Wolfsberg '17 added three hits, extending his hitting streak to 16.

Seven Continental pitchers took to the mound with starter Callum Slater '20 earning the win with three strikeouts.

Hamilton scored multiple runs in four of the first five innings, taking a 2-0 first-inning lead without a hit. Kenny Collins walked and Wolfsberg was hit by a pitch; both scored on a misplayed ground ball.

Two innings later, Brett Mele '17 followed an RBI double by Andrew Haser '17 with a two-run double and Kenny Collins plated two more runs in the fourth with a double to right center.

The visitors broke the game open in the fifth with five runs. Haser and Griffin Small '17 both hit two-run singles and Kenny Collins singled in a run.

Haser, Small and Kenny Collins had two hits apiece. Chris Collins '17 scored three runs and Wolfsberg and Robert Morris '17 both crossed the plate twice.

Ryan Wegner, Dante Rose and Raymond Smith had two hits apiece for the Wildcats, who fell to 4-19.

The Continentals return to NESCAC West Division play this weekend with a three-game series against visiting Amherst College. Hamilton and the Mammoths play a 4 p.m. game Friday and a noon doubleheader Saturday.
