Box Score The Hamilton College women's lacrosse team won for the fourth time in as many games Saturday, beating host Amherst College 7-4 in a NESCAC game at Amherst's Lehrman Stadium.
The nationally ranked No. 18 Continentals held the hosts (ranked 19th) to just one goal over the final 41 minutes. Hamilton improved to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the NESCAC.
Casey File '17, Kara Pooley '19 and Darby Philbrick '18 each a hand in two goals during Hamilton's 5-1 run over the last 13 minutes of the game.
After goals by Philbrick and Morgan Fletcher '17 in the first 71 seconds, the hosts used a 3-0 run to take a one-goal lead with 11:04 left in the opening period. Hamilton's defense allowed Amherst (3-3 overall, 1-2 NESCAC) just one goal – 3:35 into the second half – the rest of the game.
Pooley scored with 59 seconds left in the first half to send the teams into intermission tied 3-3. Amherst retook the lead at the 26:25 mark on a goal by Hannah Krueger and the Continentals pulled even 2:26 later when Pooley fed Philbrick for the tying goal.
File scored the game-winner with 11:14 remaining on the first of File's two goals. Nora Klemmer '17 added a goal less than two minutes later before File closed out the scoring with 1:10 left.
Hannah Burrall '19 made five saves to improve to 4-1 in goal.
Skyler Simson '20 picked up three ground balls and caused two turnovers. Pooley also finished with three ground balls; Taylor Ryan '17 and Maddie Fitzpatrick '18 both contributed a pair of caused turnovers.
Kruger, one of four Amherst players to score a goal, assisted on Dakota Foster's first-half goal that put the hosts up 3-2.
Julia Crerend, who scored Amherst's second goal, contributed three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Kate Burns and Sabrina Solow picked up three ground balls apiece.
Kyra Gardner stopped four shots in the Amherst net.
The Continentals moved to within half a game of first place in the NESCAC standings. They're back in action Saturday at 11 a.m. with another NESCAC game, hosting Bates College at Steuben Field.
