Winning streak continues for No. 18 women's lacrosse

The Hamilton College women's lacrosse team stretched its winning streak to three games Wednesday, beating host SUNY Oneonta 17-8 in a non-conference match-up.

The Continentals (4-3 overall) are ranked 18th nationally. They closed the first half with seven straight goals after trailing 3-2 midway through the period.

Morgan Fletcher '17 scored three of her team-best four goals during Hamilton's 7-0 run, which covered 13:17 and sent the visitors into intermission with a 9-3 lead.

The host Red Dragons (record) took three one-goal leads over the game's first 16-10, with Taylor Casey scoring the first goal of the day and assisting on Oneonta's next two.

Morgan Fletcher's first goal tied the score with 16:43 left in the half and she put Hamilton ahead for good 3:37 later. She assisted on a goal by Alex Hendry '19 just 21 seconds later, then notched her third goal in less than seven minutes to push the Continental lead to 6-3.

Kara Pooley '17, Casey File '19 and Nora Klemmer '17 – who each finished with three goals – contributed a goal apiece over the last five minutes of the half.

Oneonta scored three of the first four goals of the second half to pull to within 10-6 but goals by Klemmer and Jackie Cuddy '18 started a 7-2 Hamilton run to close out the game.

Cuddy scored two goals – giving her a team-best 11 this spring – and won two draw controls.

Pooley led Hamilton with three draw controls and two ground balls to go along with her four points (three goals, one assist).

Hannah Burrall '19 earned the win in goal, stopping three shots while playing the first half. Hannah Rubin '17 and Eleni Neyland '18 split time in the second half, combining for four saves.

Casey led all players with six points (two goals, four assists. Kelsey Cohen contributed three draw controls, two caused turnovers, two ground balls and a pair of goals. Christina Torzilli and Jacklyn Marry paced the Red Dragons with three ground balls each.

Marry made eight saves for the hosts with Lexi Keen stopping six second-half shots.

Burrall, Darby Philbrick '18 and Gabby O'Brien '19 and Sarah Kaiser '19 each scooped up a pair of ground balls. File, Kaiser and Charlotte Wynn '20 won two draw controls each.

The Continentals return to NESCAC competition Saturday, playing a noon game at nationally ranked No. 19 Amherst.
