Box Score Connecticut College scored three goals in the second period and the Camels went on to a 5-1 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Conn. College's Dayton Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Hamilton (14-7-3, 9-5-2 NESCAC) finished the regular season in third place in the conference standings and the third seed is the best in program history. The Continentals will host a 2017 NESCAC Women's Hockey Championship quarterfinal on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 4 p.m. against an opponent to be determined. Hamilton is ranked eighth in the USCHO.com Division III Top 10 poll and ninth in the D3hockey.com Top 10 poll.
The Continentals and the Camels played to a scoreless overtime tie on Friday night in New London, Conn. Connecticut Coll. (14-7-3, 10-5-1) secured second place in the NESCAC standings and the Camels are receiving votes in both polls.
Emily Williams '19 scored her fifth goal this season for Hamilton and Katie Parkman '17 and Andrea Rockey '19 picked up the assists. Parkman leads the team with 13 assists and 22 points. Sam Walther '18 made 27 saves including 13 in the first period. The Continentals went 0-for-3 on the power play.
Paige Michel and Lily Connolly recorded one goal and one assist apiece for Connecticut Coll., and Katherine Chester made 10 of her 21 stops in the third period. The Camels held a 32-22 shot advantage and went 1-for-3 on power-play opportunities.
Michel gave Connecticut Coll. a 1-0 lead at 10:41 of the first period with an unassisted goal that was also her first this season. Williams knotted the score with 1:55 left in the first. Blackwell made a nice wraparound move from behind the net and delivered a centering pass in front to Williams for the tap-in goal.
Ashley Anctil put the Camels in front for good at 3:13 of the second period with her fourth goal and Samantha Estes gave Connecticut Coll. a two-goal cushion four minutes later with her fourth this season. Stephanie Izzi made it 4-1 with her eighth goal, which was scored on the power play, with 7:51 remaining in the second. Connolly rounded out the scoring with her second goal this season at 10:20 of the third period.
