Box Score The Hamilton College women's hockey team won for the seventh time in eight games Friday night, opening a weekend NESCAC series against host Trinity College with a 1-0 win in Hartford, Conn. The Continentals (8-3-0 overall) moved into first place in the NESCAC standings with a 4-1 conference mark.
For the second time in four days, a third-period goal by Andrea Rockey '19 stood as the game's only score. Sam Walther '18 turned aside 23 shots, recording a shutout for the fourth time in her last seven starts.
Rockey broke the scoreless tie with her team-leading sixth goal of the season. Katie Parkman '17, the Continentals' leading scorer (4-7=11) assisted on the play.
Hamilton needed to kill just two penalties and the Continentals' nation-leading penalty kill percentage is now 97 percent (one goal in 33 opportunities) and they rank third in Division III in scoring defense (1.09 goals per game).
Walther's shutout was her fourth of the season (one short of her own year-old school record) and extended her career total to a program-best 12. She ranks in the top six nationally in shutouts (fourth), save percentage (fourth, .957) and goals against average (1.02).
Jess Thulin made 23 saves for the Bantams, who fell to 1-8-1 overall and 0-5-1 in NESCAC action.
The teams conclude their weekend series Saturday with a 4 p.m. game.
