The Hamilton College men's tennis team picked up its first dual match victory of the season Wednesday, rolling to a 7-2 win over host SUNY Oneonta at the Red Dragons' Heissan '63 Tennis Courts.
Among the four Continentals who were winners in singles and doubles play were Eyad Nagori '18 and Andrew Wei '20. The two teamed for an 8-1 victory at third doubles, then both swept their singles matches. Nagori won a first-set tiebreaker on his way to beating his fourth singles opponent and Wei was a straight-set winner at number six to improve his singles mark to 4-1.
Sam Farber '20 bounced back from a loss in the second set to take the decisive set 10-7 at first singles and Jon Cohen '17 dispatched his third singles opponent in two straight. Cohen picked up his 36th career singles victory; he's one away from moving into a three-way tie for third on the program's all-time list.
Farber and partner Max McKee-Proctor '17 posted a first doubles victory and Cohen teamed with Alex Streich '18 to win at the second spot.
The Continentals are back in action this weekend, traveling to Geneva, N.Y., for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Championship. The three-day event will be hosted by Hobart Saturday through Monday.
