NEW LONDON, Conn. – Hamilton College's
Morgan Clarke '28 scored the tying goal with 1:21 left in the fourth quarter and the Continentals went on to win 3-2 in a shootout against the Connecticut College Camels at Conn. College's rain-soaked and wind-swept Silfen Field on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Season Update
- Nationally ranked No. 10 Hamilton (6-1, 3-1 NESCAC) were coming off a 2-0 victory at St. Lawrence University on Sept. 23.
- The Camels (1-5, 0-5) dropped their fourth in a row.
How It Happened
- Sadie Gearan put Conn. College in front with 2:49 remaining in the fourth quarter and Hamilton Head Coach Missy Mariano pulled goalkeeper Kelly Janssen '28 for an 11th field player. Clarke's goal came off a penalty corner after a pass from Isabelle Nahon '27.
- The Continentals held a 9-2 shot advantage during the two 10-minute, sudden-victory overtime periods, but couldn't find the game-winning goal. Hamilton came close a couple times as Alden Duserick '27 hit the post with a shot late in the first overtime, and Serena Moore made a defensive save on a shot by Nahon early in the second overtime.
- Tied at 2-2, the teams went to a shootout. Brighton McMahon '29 went first and converted her attempt. The first two attempts by the Camels were unsuccessful and Clarke gave the Continentals a 2-0 advantage with her good attempt. Gearan put Conn. College on the board in the third round.
- Eva Bell '29 gave Hamilton its third successful attempt, the Camels missed again in the fourth round, and the Continentals escaped with a big NESCAC road win.
- Kenna White '28 put Hamilton in front with 2:06 to go in the first quarter. Eloise Montagano tied the score for Conn. College 5:14 into the second quarter when she scored off the rebound of her own shot that was stopped by Janssen.
- There was a lengthy weather delay late in the third quarter as the teams tried to play through the nor'easter Saturday morning.
Notes
- White scored for the first time since the season opener and has two career goals.
- Clarke notched her first goal this season and the second of her career with the Continentals.
- Nahon picked up her fourth assist and 18th point. She's tied for fourth in the conference in assists and is second in points.
- Janssen finished with four saves.
- Hamilton was awarded 13 of its 22 penalty corners in the fourth quarter.
- The Continentals have won seven of the last eight meetings with the Camels.

Hamilton is at William Smith College (4-5) on Tuesday, Sept. 29 for the Continentals' fifth straight road contest.
