CANTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Kelly Janssen '28 made eight saves and the Continentals scored twice in the opening eight minutes of their 2-0 non-conference win against the St. Lawrence University Saints at St. Lawrence's North Country Field on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
Season Update
- Nationally ranked No. 10 Hamilton (5-1 overall) bounced back from a 4-2 loss at Middlebury College on Sept. 20.
- The Saints (4-3), who are members of the Liberty League, lost for the third time in their last four games.
How It Happened
- The Continentals opened the scoring 5:04 into the first quarter. Isabelle Nahon '27 gained possession outside Hamilton's offensive zone and carried the ball inside the shooting circle. Nahon slapped a backhand shot from the left wing near the edge of the circle and the ball bounced into the back of the cage.
- Brighton McMahon '29 made it 2-0 with 7:05 left in the first. Following a penalty corner, Alden Duserick '27 took a shot that was blocked and McMahon corralled the rebound. She moved to an open area and hammered a shot from the middle of the shooting circle.
- The Continentals dominated the third quarter with a 12-0 advantage in shots and five penalty corners to none for St. Lawrence.
- The Saints' best quarter was the fourth as they posted more shots (7-2) and corners (3-0) than Hamilton. Janssen was forced to make half of her eight stops in the final 15 minutes.
Notes
- Nahon has scored at least one goal in five of the Continentals' six games and leads the team with seven goals and 17 points.
- McMahon has recorded a goal in three straight games and two points in four consecutive contests.
- Janssen lowered her goals against average to 0.97 with her third shutout this season and improved her save percentage to .854.
- Hamilton has won all six meetings since the old Liberty League rivals started playing again in 2021.
