MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Hamilton College Continentals battled the third-ranked Middlebury College Panthers to a scoreless draw in NESCAC action at Middlebury's South Street Field on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
Season Update
- Hamilton (1-2-3, 0-2-2 NESCAC) collected its second point in the conference standings.
- The Panthers (4-0-1, 2-0-1), who climbed to No. 3 in the United Soccer Coaches Division III Top 25 poll on Tuesday, have yet to allow a goal this season.
How It Happened
- Middlebury created the first scoring chance of the match in the ninth minute. Harper Nicholl sent a shot toward the bottom-right corner of the Hamilton goal, but Tobin Walsh '29 made the save.
- Nicholl tested Walsh again in the 27th minute, but Walsh dove to his right to make the stop.
- With just under 17 minutes remaining in the first half, Hamilton sent a long free kick into the Middlebury penalty area. The ball bounced to Romaric Mahe '29 in the right side of the box, and Mahe sent a low shot toward the right corner. Middlebury goalkeeper Leon Brody reacted in time to make the diving save.
- Middlebury outshot Hamilton 7-5 in the second half, but neither team registered a shot on goal during the final 45 minutes.
- The ball fell to Zach Tracy '28 near the penalty spot following a long throw in by Zander Laidlaw '28 in the 77th minute, but Tracy's volley sailed over the crossbar.

- Hamilton registered a scoreless draw against the Panthers for the second consecutive season. Middlebury was also ranked third when the two teams met last season.
- Hamilton has recorded a clean sheet in half of its games this season.
- Middlebury outshot Hamilton 14-9, and held the advantage in shots on goal, 3-2.
- Mahe recorded a team-high two shots for the Continentals.
- Walsh collected his first shutout of the season, and holds a 0.40 goals against average through three appearances.
- Silas Rella-Neill '27 made his first career start for the Continentals.
- Nicholl, Charlie Johnson, Orlando Cavaceppi-Dove, Keagan Harder and Nate Dunlop each recorded two shots for Middlebury.
- Brody collected his fifth shutout of the season for the Panthers.
- Middlebury had outscored its opponents 14-0 through its first four games.
