Women's soccer battles Middlebury to 1-1 draw, Boller ’29 records 14 saves

Cramer ’28 scored her second goal of the season for the Continentals

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — Hamilton College's Corah Boller '29 tallied a season-high 14 saves as the Continentals registered a 1-1 draw against the Middlebury College Panthers at Middlebury's Allan Dragone Track & Field Complex on Sunday, Sept. 20.

Season Update

  • Hamilton (4-1-1, 2-1-1 NESCAC) was coming off a 3-0 win at Trinity on Saturday, Sept. 19.
  • Middlebury (2-1-3, 2-1-1) recorded a 1-0 win at Amherst on Saturday.

How It Happened

  • The Continentals grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute as Haley Cramer '28 found the back of the net following a corner kick taken by Kate Giglio '28.
  • The Panthers applied pressure throughout the remainder of the first half, but Boller recorded seven of her saves in the first 45 minutes and Hamilton carried its lead into halftime.
  • Ryan Manning '27 put a low shot on target in the 55th minute that was saved by Middlebury goalkeeper Frankie Marston.
  • Middlebury continued to generate scoring opportunities in the second half, and Boller came up with a crucial save on a penalty kick at the 59:16 mark to keep the Panthers off the board.
  • Cramer nearly doubled Hamilton's lead with 32:35 remaining, but her shot struck the crossbar.
  • The Panthers leveled the match in the 74th minute when Gigi Day converted a penalty kick.
  • Middlebury's Taya McCellen hit the crossbar in the 76th minute, and Hamilton's Brooke St. John '30 had a shot saved less than two minutes later, but neither team was able to find the winning goal.

Notes

  • Boller's 14 saves are the most by a Hamilton goalkeeper in the past 14 seasons.
  • Cramer registered her second goal of the season. She leads the Continentals in assists with four.
  • Giglio provided her third assist on the year.
  • Isabel Harvey '28, Cramer and Diana Baffor '29 took two shots each for Hamilton.
  • Olivia Connolly '27 played the final 10:31 in goal for Hamilton and made one save.
  • Middlebury held a 29-11 advantage in shots.
  • Day, Chloe Swindle and Noelle Mallory each recorded two shots on goal for the Panthers.
  • Middlebury's Frankie Marston totaled three saves.

Hamilton will conclude a three-game NESCAC road swing with an 11 a.m. match at Connecticut College (2-2-1, 1-2-1) on Saturday, Sept. 26.
