Softball swept at Bowdoin, Rogers '26 posts pair of multi-hit games

Senior extended her hitting streak to six games for the Continentals

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin College's Anika Ewert reached base six times and the Polar Bears swept a NESCAC doubleheader against the Hamilton College Continentals at Bowdoin's Pickard Field on Friday, April 17.

Season Update

  • Hamilton (7-20, 0-12 NESCAC) has lost four straight games.
  • The Polar Bears (23-6, 9-5) were coming off a split doubleheader at Williams College on April 12.

Game 1 (Bowdoin wins, 5-2)

How It Happened

  • Bowdoin took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but the Continentals tied the score the next time they came to bat. Hadley Rogers '26 led off with a single to left field, moved to second base on an infield error and advanced to third on a base hit. Rogers scored on a two-out infield single by Sofia Santana '26.
  • Hamilton grabbed a 2-1 lead with a run in the top of the fourth. Gaby Guerra '27 started the inning with a single up the middle and was replaced by pinch-runner Lauren Farace '29, who stole second. Farace moved to third on a single up the middle by Alison Zorn '26 and scored when Santana reached base on an infield error.
  • The Polar Bears were unfazed as they came right back and scored four runs in the bottom of the inning. The Continentals were able to put two runners on base in the sixth and seventh innings, but couldn't get the clutch hit that would have put more pressure on Bowdoin.

Notes

  • Hamilton finished with 12 hits but stranded 10 runners on base.
  • Miranda Mosqueda '28 tied a career high with three hits.
  • Santana contributed two hits and two runs batted in. It was the third time this season she recorded a multi-hit and multi-RBI game.
  • Rogers had two hits including her third double in the last four games.
  • Zorn's two hits represented her first multi-hit game this season.
  • Alexis Mayer '26 smacked her 22nd career double in the game's first at bat.
  • Aubrey Purvis '27 pitched all six innings and struck out three.
  • Ewert went 2-for-3 with a walk, scored two runs and stole two bases. Maddie Paschke singled, tripled and drove in two runs. Maddie Current allowed one earned run and fanned three in seven innings.

Game 2 (Bowdoin wins, 5-4)

How It Happened

  • The Polar Bears scored three runs in the bottom of the first and led the whole way.
  • The Continentals pulled within 3-2 on Guerra's two-run single in the top of the fourth inning before Bowdoin restored its three-run cushion with a pair in the sixth.
  • Hamilton tried to rally in the seventh. Pinch-hitter Lydia Mirabito '26 drew a one-out walk, Mayer singled up the middle, and Mosqueda drove in both runners with a two-out double to the gap in right-center field. With Mosqueda representing the tying run on second base, Sophia Hahn got the next batter to hit a ground ball to the shortstop and end the game.

Notes

  • Rogers went 2-for-3 for her fourth multi-hit game in the last six.
  • Mosqueda's double was her team-leading eighth of 2026.
  • Guerra posted her third multi-RBI game this season.
  • Yael Everett '28 singled and has a hit in each of her last four games. Everett pitched all six innings and struck out four.
  • Mayer singled for her 103rd career hit. She was also hit by a pitch for the first time this season.
  • Ewert went 3-for-4 with two more stolen bases and scored two runs. Baylie Wong singled, doubled and walked. Ava Biasotti pitched the first four innings and allowed one earned run. Hahn allowed two runs over the last three innings and picked up the save.
