CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Mark Kovach '28 allowed two runs in nine innings of work while
Gianni DiCerbo '27 and
Lucas Herman '26 scored two runs each in the Continentals' 6-2 NESCAC West Division win over the Middlebury College Panthers at Hamilton's Loop Road Athletic Complex on Sunday, April 12.
Season Update
- Hamilton (10-12, 5-4 NESCAC West) clinched its second conference series victory of the season with the win. The Continentals took game one against the Panthers on Saturday, April 11 by a score of 9-7.
- Middlebury (14-8, 2-3) won game two of the series on Saturday, April 11 to set up the rubber match on Sunday.
How It Happened
- DiCerbo led off the bottom of the first with a walk, moved into scoring position following a single by Herman, tagged up and advanced to third on a fly ball to right field by Satish Raichur '28, and crossed the plate following a throwing error by the Panthers to score the first run of the game.
- Middlebury's Brayden Matthews singled and came around to score in the second to tie the game at 1-1.
- Herman crossed the plate for Hamilton in the bottom of the third, then the Panthers tied the game once again with a run in the fourth.
- Ethan Righter '27 and Alfonso Rada '27 both singled and Chester Boynton '27 drew a walk to load the bases in the fourth, then DiCerbo lifted a sacrifice fly to right field and drove in Righter for a 3-2 Hamilton lead.
- Hamilton loaded the bases with two outs in the sixth, but Middlebury reliever Stefano Yozzo got a strikeout to end the inning.
- Kovach delivered 1-2-3 innings in the sixth and seventh to maintain the one-run lead.
- Taylor Kaufman '26 drove in Herman with a single to center field in the seventh and doubled the lead.
- Kovach worked around a one-out double in the eighth, ending the inning with a strikeout.
- Michael Tallarida '26 and Noa Oyadomari '29 drove in runs in the bottom of the eighth and Hamilton extended its lead to 6-2.
- Kovach got three consecutive groundouts in the top of the ninth to close out the win.
Notes
- Kovach tossed the team's first complete game since the 2024 season. He recorded five strikeouts and allowed one earned run to collect his third win of the season.
- DiCerbo and Herman both recorded a team-high two hits. DiCerbo also drew two walks.
- Righter added a single and a run.
- Boynton drew a walk and scored a run.
- Edo Spadaccini '26 reached base twice with a single and a walk.
- Joe Basso went 3-for-4 at the plate for the Panthers.
- Yozzo recorded four strikeouts in 3.2 innings in relief.

Hamilton will return to action with a doubleheader at Bowdoin College (11-13, 3-6 NESCAC East) on Saturday, April 18. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
