Men's lacrosse nearly rallies from six-goal deficit at St. John Fisher

Little '27 and Kraus '28 scored two goals apiece for the Continentals

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – St. John Fisher University ran off six straight goals and jumped out to a big lead in the first half, only to have the Hamilton College Continentals nearly come all the way back in the Cardinals' 10-8 non-conference win at St. John Fisher's Growney Stadium on a cool and damp Tuesday afternoon, March 3.

Season Update

  • Hamilton (0-2 overall) has opened the 2026 season on the road against two nationally ranked teams.
  • The 12th-ranked Cardinals (4-0) had their narrowest margin of victory and were limited to a season-low in goals.

How It Happened

  • Robbie Salit scored for St. John Fisher 60 seconds into the first quarter and the Continentals' Jesse Delinsky '26 tied it 1:23 later.
  • Logan Welch put the Cardinals in the lead for good and started a 6-0 run with 7:11 left in the first. Six players scored for St. John Fisher during the spurt, which ended on Lane Edinger's tally with 11:09 remaining in the second quarter.
  • Hamilton finally found the back of the net again on a shot by Finn Vaccaro '29 just 45 seconds later, and Vaccaro had the assist on a goal by Maddux Little '27 with 4:26 to go in the second. Edinger notched another goal in the final seconds of the quarter and the Cardinals went into the break with an 8-3 advantage.
  • The Continentals clamped down on the St. John Fisher offense after halftime as the Cardinals were held to a man-up goal by Hayden Lauer during the first 28 minutes of the second half. St. John Fisher put just three shots on goal during the last two quarters.
  • Hamilton pulled within 9-6 at the end of three quarters and Little made it a two-goal game 1:22 into the fourth. A man-up goal by Carson Kraus '28 cut the Continentals' deficit to one at 9-8 with 4:28 left.
  • Hamilton had a shot to tie the score with a little more than three minutes remaining but it sailed wide of the goal. The Continentals lost the ball a few seconds later and Lauer provided the insurance goal with 1:59 to go.
