AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Hamilton College's
Taylor Kaufman '26, Satish Raichur '28 and
Gianni DiCerbo '27 drove in two runs each and the Continentals claimed a 9-7 NESCAC West Division win against the Williams College Ephs at Lake Myrtle Park on Friday, March 27 in game one of a three-game series.
Season Update
- Hamilton (6-7, 1-0 NESCAC West) has won six of its last eight games.
- Williams (5-5, 0-1) had won its previous two games against Carleton College and Oberlin College.
How It Happened
- Hamilton jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the top of the second inning.
- Kaufman drove in Chester Boynton '27 and Michael Tallarida '26 with a double in the top of the first for a 2-0 lead.
- The Continentals put up five runs in the second. Boynton and Tallarida delivered back-to-back RBI singles and Boynton crossed the plate on a double steal. Raichur poked a single up the middle that drove in Lucas Herman '26 and Kaufman.
- Williams loaded the bases in the bottom of the second and tallied three runs with the help of a two-run single by Oliver Rey.
- Williams' Quinn Carlesimo drove in Ryan Nakajima with a double in the third and trimmed its deficit to 7-4.
- DiCerbo smashed a two-run home run in the fifth for a 9-4 advantage.
- The Ephs added one run in the fifth, eighth and ninth innings.
- Hamilton's Ethan Righter '27 stranded two Ephs on base in the bottom of the ninth and closed out the win.
Notes
- Righter recorded five strikeouts with one earned run allowed in 4.1 innings of relief and collected his second win of the season.
- Boynton and Herman provided two hits and two runs each. Boynton added two stolen bases.
- DiCerbo added two walks and two runs.
- Noa Oyadomari '29 recorded his first career extra-base hit with a double in the fifth.
- Williams' Lucas Brandt tossed 4.1 innings of scoreless relief.
- Rey recorded a game-high three hits with two runs batted in.
- Ben Swank provided two hits and two runs batted in for the Ephs.
