Kraus '28 scores OT game winner as men's lacrosse takes fifth straight

Healy '26 notched four goals and is second all-time with the Continentals

CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Carson Kraus '28 scored a man-up goal with 1:29 left in the first sudden-victory overtime period and lifted the Continentals to an 11-10 non-conference win over the Ithaca College Bombers at Hamilton's sun-splashed Steuben Field on Tuesday afternoon, March 24.

Season Update

  • The Continentals (5-3 overall) extended their win streak to five games. Hamilton has won five in a row for the first time since 2013.
  • Ithaca (5-4), which is 0-1 in the Liberty League, was coming off a 12-10 loss at Clarkson University.

How It Happened

  • The Bombers had an extra-man opportunity to start overtime after one of the Continentals was flagged for slashing with one second left in regulation. Ithaca only managed one shot, which didn't make it to goal, before they turned the ball over when the shot clock expired.
  • About a minute later, Hamilton received a man-up chance as one of the Bombers was sent off for interference. Frank Coyle '26 received the ball behind the goal and found Kraus near the top of the offensive zone. Kraus caught the ball 15 yards from the net, took a couple steps forward and ripped a shot into the back of the net.
  • The Continentals scored four goals in the first seven minutes of the first quarter – two by Jesse Delinsky '26 and two by Thomas Healy '26. Charlie Boon '29 made it 5-0 with 2:04 left in the first.
  • Ithaca never led, but the Bombers drew even twice. Hamilton led 5-1 after the first 15 minutes, but Ithaca closed to within a goal at 7-6 by halftime. Will Kleine's goal with 40.9 seconds remaining in the third quarter pulled the Bombers into an 8-8 tie.
  • The Continentals quickly jumped back in front in the fourth quarter when goals by Kraus and Healy made it 10-8 with 12:33 to go. Brendan Occhino cut Ithaca's deficit to one just 63 seconds later, and Kleine knotted the score at 10-10 with 9:59 left.
  • There were no goals over the last 10 minutes of regulation, but there were some close calls. The goalies combined to make five saves, and a shot by Ithaca's Ethan Adrid banged off the crossbar with 2:42 remaining.

  • Healy finished with four goals and an assist. He has 11 points in the last two games. Healy moved into second place on the team's all-time list with 110 career goals.

  • Delinsky's two goals represented his third multi-goal game this season.
  • Charlie Rooney '27 picked up two assists for his first multi-assist contest at Hamilton.
  • Maddux Little '27 notched his 11th goal. Little is tied for the team lead with Kraus, Healy and Ryan Olivo '28.

  • Kleine topped the Bombers' offense with five points on two goals and three assists, and Tim Rogers scored four goals. Liam Alberti won 11-of-17 faceoffs and gathered seven ground balls.
