DAVENPORT, Fla. – Lawrence University's AJ Desantiago drove in four runs and scored two more with three hits in the Vikings' 12-6 victory over the Hamilton College Continentals at Northeast Regional Park on Tuesday, March 24.
Season Update
- Hamilton (5-7 overall) has won five out of seven games played in Florida.
- Lawrence (4-12), which is a member of the Midwest Conference, snapped a seven-game skid.
How It Happened
- Chester Boynton '27 led off with a base hit through the right side and advanced all the way to third on an errant pickoff throw. Gianni DiCerbo '27 lifted a sacrifice fly to right field that drove in Boynton for a 1-0 lead.
- Lawrence grabbed a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second with the help of an RBI single by Myles Brincks.
- Hamilton's Andrew Millington '28 led off the top of the third with a single up the middle and came around to score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Michael Tallarida '26. Boynton scored on a wild pitch during the next at bat and made it 3-2 in favor of the Continentals.
- Lawrence took the lead for good with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.
- Desantiago and Dylan Keenan drove in two runs apiece in the sixth and extended the Vikings' lead to 8-3.
- Desantiago delivered a sacrifice fly in the seventh for a 10-3 advantage.
- Lawrence loaded the bases in the eighth and scratched two more runs across for a 12-3 advantage.
- Hamilton scored three in the top of the ninth as Jeremy Diaz '27 and Jared MacDonald '27 contributed one RBI apiece.
Notes
- Boynton finished with two runs and two hits. He leads the Continentals in runs scored with 16 on the year.
- Tallarida is tied for sixth in the NESCAC in runs batted in with 13.
- Taylor Kaufman '26 reached base twice with a single and a walk.
- TJ Takis '26 made his first appearance and start on the mound this season and tossed one scoreless inning.
- Ryan Tonghini '28 recorded three strikeouts in 2.1 innings of relief.
- Lawrence's Nathan Zumbrunnen collected the win after allowing two hits, one walk and zero runs with three strikeouts in four innings of relief.
- Nathan Depew tallied two hits, two runs and one RBI for the Vikings.
