PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – Hamilton College scored the first four goals and led the entire way in the Continentals' 10-6 non-conference win against the Westfield State University Owls at Publix Park on Thursday, March 19.
Season Update
- Hamilton (4-3 overall) won all three of its games by a combined score of 34-11 during the Continentals' spring break trip to Florida.
- Westfield State (2-4) was coming off an 18-10 win against Plymouth State University on March 17.
How It Happened
- Kristin Vosswinkel '27 won the opening draw and Maddigan Leifer '26 scored 39 seconds into the first quarter. Leifer made it 2-0 with 8:57 left in the first. A shot by Julia Lee '27 was saved by Izzy Conley and Vosswinkel picked up the loose ball. Leifer eventually ended up with the ball and scored.
- Lee gave Hamilton a three-goal advantage on a free-position shot with 7:27 remaining in the quarter. Lee also scored the fourth goal a little more than four minutes into the second quarter on a pass from Natalie Mascitti '29.
- The Owls didn't get closer than three goals – at 4-1 early in the second quarter and at 9-6 late in the third – the rest of the way.
- The Continentals led 6-1 at the half and 9-6 after three quarters. Hamilton held Westfield State scoreless in the fourth quarter.
Notes
- Leifer scored three goals in a game for the third time this season and leads the Continentals with 13.
- Lee also finished with three tallies and posted three points for the third straight contest.
- Mascitti registered season highs with three assists and three draw controls.
- Sophia Wright '28 chipped in a goal and an assist. Wright leads the team with nine helpers and 21 points.
- Grace MacLean '29 scored her 12th goal and has at least one in six of the seven games played this season.
- Lily Goldsmith '28 notched her third goal this season and Avery Trach '27 came up with her second.
- Eliza Schwarz '27 had another big game with six saves, four ground balls and a career-high three caused turnovers.
- Christina Roncarati scored five of the Owls' six goals. Kayli Bush led all players with four draw controls and Conley stopped 15 shots.
- Hamilton enjoyed a 28-13 shot advantage. The Continentals won seven of the nine draws in the third quarter.
- This game marked the first meeting between the two teams.
