MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Hamilton College Continentals won a pair of games against the Western Connecticut State University Wolves by scores of 11-4 and 11-2 at the USSSA Space Coast Complex on Friday, March 20.
Season Update
- Hamilton (5-5) has won three games in a row, and five of its last six.
- The Wolves (2-8) dropped their final four games at the Space Coast Spring Games.
Game 1
How It Happened
- Hamilton jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the second, and held a 10-1 advantage after three.
- Gaby Guerra '27 drove in Nikki Dyche '28 with a base hit to center field in the top of the first. Dyche came to the plate with the bases loaded in the second and ripped a single to right field that cleared the bases.
- Western Connecticut State got a run back in the top of the third following an RBI single by Giulia Scibilia, then the Continentals added four more runs in the bottom of the frame. Aubrey Purvis '27 drove in three runs with a triple to right center field, then Miranda Mosqueda '28 drove in Sofia Santana '26 with a single down the left field line.
- The Wolves trimmed their deficit to 10-4 in the fourth with the help of a sacrifice fly by Victoria Wiatrak.
- Juliana Abraham '29 ripped a double to center field in the bottom of the fifth and scored her first career run later in the frame to make it 11-4.
Notes
- Dyche, Purvis, Mosqueda and Santana recorded two hits each.
- Purvis collected the win with four strikeouts in four innings pitched.
- Lauren Farace '29 pitched the final three innings and allowed zero runs and two hits with three strikeouts to collect her second save of the season.
- Purvis recorded her first career hits and runs batted in.
Game Two
How It Happened
- The Continentals struck first with three runs in the top of the first. Yael Everett '28 led off with single, then stole second and scored on a Mosqueda triple.
- Hadley Rogers '26 drove in Alexis Mayer '26 and Dyche with a single up the middle to make it 3-0.
- The Wolves cut their deficit to 3-1 in the bottom of the second.
- Hamilton added four runs in the fifth for a 9-2 lead. Rogers, Santana and Mosqueda each drove in a run during the inning.
- A two-run double by Abraham in the sixth extended Hamilton's lead to 11-2.
Notes
- Rogers went 4-for-4 at the plate to set a new career high in hits and drove in a career-high three runs.
- Mosqueda, Santana and Abraham drove in two runs each.
- Rogers, Everett, Dyche and Lydia Mirabito '26 each scored two runs.
- The Continentals tied their season high with 15 hits.
- Everett tossed all six innings for Hamilton to collect the win.
- Serenity Ortega tallied a team-high two hits for the Wolves.
