Men's lacrosse strikes early and often in impressive showing at Hartwick

Continentals scored the first six goals and led 7-1 at the end of the first quarter

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Hamilton College scored the first six goals and the Continentals cruised to a 21-5 non-conference win against the Hartwick College Hawks at Hartwick's Wright Stadium on Wednesday, March 18.
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (3-3 overall) won its third straight game with all three coming in a span of five days.
  • The Hawks (0-6) are members of the Empire 8 Athletic Conference. They were limited to a season-low five goals by the Continentals.
 

How It Happened

  • Hamilton led 2-0 just 40 seconds into the first quarter, 6-0 midway through the first and 7-1 after the opening 15 minutes.
  • Finn Vaccaro '29 scored four of the Continentals' seven goals in the quarter. Maddux Little '27 had a goal and two assists during the opening onslaught. Andrew Higgins '28 won the opening faceoff and scored on the first shot of the afternoon. Charlie Rooney '27 notched the other goal in the first.
  • Hartwick never got closer than five goals after Hamilton's six-goal blitz. The Continentals enjoyed a 13-3 advantage at the half and 18-5 after three quarters. The Hawks were held scoreless during the last 17 minutes.
 

Notes

  • David Petz '26 led Hamilton's offense with three goals and three assists for a career-high six points. Petz scooped up a career-best five ground balls.
  • Vaccaro posted season highs of four goals and five points. He leads the Continentals with nine assists and 16 points.
  • Jake Goldstein '28 scored a career-best four goals. Goldstein entered the day with two at Hamilton.
  • Little chipped in a goal and a career-high three assists.
  • Troy Fredrickson '29 had two goals and a helper for his first three collegiate points.
  • Ryan Olivo '28 scored his team-leading ninth goal and added two assists.
  • Joey Hetz '29 recorded his first two goals with the Continentals.
  • Rooney and Charlie Boon '29 registered a goal and an assist apiece. Boon boasted his first two points at Hamilton while Rooney celebrated his second multi-point game.
  • Evan deBerjeois '27 passed out two assists for his first points of 2026.
  • Reece Hickey '26 scored his third career goal, collected a team-high seven ground balls and won 10-of-12 faceoffs.
  • Higgins' tally was his first for the Continentals and he won 6-of-9 faceoffs.
  • Wyatt Estepp '27 handed out his first assist this season.
  • Carson Kraus '28 extended his point streak to eight games dating back to last season with an assist.
  • Ben Ryan '26 had an assist for his first point since April 16, 2024. Ryan was injured and didn't play last year.
  • Doug Cohen '29 won 7-of-9 faceoffs as Hamilton won 23-of-30 as a team.
  • Matteo Pavan '28 registered four of the Continentals' 18 caused turnovers.
  • Grayson Sisley '29 picked up five ground balls in his first collegiate action.
  • Hamilton played all four of its goalies. Lukas Takvor '29 stopped all four shots he faced in the fourth quarter in his first Hamilton appearance.
  • Colin August scored two goals for Hartwick. Ty Crowley contributed a goal and four ground balls and won 3-of-5 faceoffs. AJ Saragossi made 16 saves and Kaiden Johnson added 12.
  • The Continentals enjoyed big advantages in shots (62-25) and ground balls (50-21) and scored on all three of their extra-man opportunities.
  • Hamilton extended its win streak against the Hawks to 10 games. The 21 goals were tied for the most since the second game of the 2024 season.
 

Next Game

The Continentals are on the road again at Colby College (2-3, 0-3) in NESCAC action on Saturday, March 21 at 1 p.m.
