Women's lacrosse allows one goal against Framingham State in Florida

MacLean '29 (four points) and Wright '28 (three goals) led the Continentals' offense

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – Hamilton College scored the first 12 goals and the Continentals breezed to a 12-1 non-conference win against the Framingham State University Rams at Publix Park on Monday, March 16.
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (3-3 overall) is undefeated in Florida as the Continentals defeated Connecticut College 12-4 on March 15.
  • Framingham (2-4) had won its previous two games.
 

How It Happened

  • Hamilton led 3-0 at the end of the first quarter. Lauren Garringer '29 scored the first two goals and Kristin Vosswinkel '27 added the third.
  • The Continentals exploded for seven goals in the second quarter. Five different players scored in the first five minutes of the quarter, capped by a Julia Lee '27 goal with 10:11 left that made it 8-0. Grace MacLean '29 and Sophia Wright '28 put shots in the back of the net late in the second.
  • Hamilton's 10-goal lead meant the running clock was in effect, and it stayed that way for the entire second half. Wright scored again with 8:23 remaining in the third quarter and MacLean notched the 12th goal with 5:30 to go in the third.
  • Katie Pizzardi finally ended the Continentals' shutout bid on her goal with 2:16 left in the quarter. Neither team scored in a fourth quarter that was filled with a dozen turnovers.
 

Notes

  • MacLean posted three goals and an assist for the second day in a row. She is tied for the team lead with 11 goals.
  • Wright scored three goals and picked up a career-high four ground balls. She is tied with MacLean with 11 goals and leads the team with 19 points.
  • Lee registered three points for the second consecutive day on a goal and two assists. She also caused two turnovers.
  • Garringer, who scored the game's first two goals, recorded her second straight multi-goal contest.
  • Maddigan Leifer '26 chipped in a goal and an assist and has at least one point in all six games.
  • Natalie Mascitti '29 (two assists) collected her first multi-assist game at Hamilton.
  • Lily Goldsmith '28 notched her second goal this season and Vosswinkel picked up her fifth.
  • Sydney Anzelone '27 had an assist in her first game this spring.
  • Elizabeth Rudge '27 came away with a career-high 11 draw controls and caused two turnovers.
  • Eliza Schwarz '27 made two saves in the first half for the Continentals.
  • Kylie Thomas paced the Rams' defense with four ground balls and a game-high four caused turnovers.
  • Hamilton allowed its fewest goals in a game since the Continentals blanked Vassar College 18-0 on April 8, 2011.
  • Hamilton dominated Framingham in shots (27-4), ground balls (25-14) and draw controls (12-3). The Rams were successful on just half of their 16 clear attempts.
  • Monday's game was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
