MELBOURNE, Fla. – St. Norbert College's Elly Kirst tallied two hits, two runs and one RBI and the Green Knights recorded a 5-2 win over the Hamilton College Continentals at the USSSA Space Coast Complex on Sunday morning, March 15.

Season Update

  • Hamilton (0-1 overall) had it's second game of the day against Central College suspended in the sixth inning due to lightning.
  • St. Norbert (4-4) defeated Western Connecticut State later in the day and claimed its third win in a row.

How It Happened

  • St. Norbert struck first in the top of the first inning as Kirst drew a leadoff walk, stole second, advanced to third on a fielder's choice and scored on a passed ball.
  • The Continentals got the run back in the bottom of the frame. Miranda Mosqueda '28 and Alexis Mayer '26 ripped back-to-back singles and a double steal gave Hamilton runners on second and third with one out. Nikki Dyche '28 drove in Mosqueda with a base hit to left field.
  • St. Norbert's Sophia Nieckula pinch ran for Karleigh Linssen following a leadoff walk in the second and came around to score later in the inning for a 2-1 lead.
  • Kirst led off the third with a double and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt. Hamilton starting pitcher Aubrey Purvis '27 got back-to-back fly outs in foul territory and stranded the runner on third.
  • St. Norbert extended its lead to 3-1 in the fifth as Kirst singled through the right side, stole second, and crossed the plate on a double by Grendel Sprong.
  • Mosqueda smashed a double down the left field line in the bottom of the fifth and Mayer drove her in with a single to left field, trimming Hamilton's deficit to 3-2.
  • St. Norbert added two insurance runs in the sixth with the help of an RBI single up the middle by Molly Reichenberger.
  • Alison Zorn '26 led off the bottom of the sixth with a double to right center, but St. Norbert starting pitcher Addison Maurer got a pop up and two groundouts and Zorn was stranded at third.
  • St. Norbert's Amber Johanek got the final three outs in the bottom of the seventh and earned the save.
