CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College exploded for four goals in the third period and the Continentals came from behind in a 5-2 NESCAC win against the Bowdoin College Polar Bears inside Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink on Friday night, Feb. 6.
Season Update
- The Continentals (10-6-4, 6-4-3 NESCAC) have lost just once in their last nine games.
- Bowdoin (9-9-0, 3-8) dropped its seventh straight contest.
How It Happened
- Hamilton trailed 2-1 after two periods but wasted no time erasing that deficit in the third. Sophia Rodham '27 took a shot from the point that was blocked by a Polar Bear defender. Sarah Myziuk '28 immediately gathered in the loose puck, skated into the right faceoff circle and scored on a wrist shot through traffic 1:07 into the period.
- Myziuk struck again just 19 seconds later. She intercepted a pass behind the Bowdoin goal, skated into the bottom of the right circle, turned and fired a low wrist shot into the back of the net for a 3-2 lead.
- The Polar Bears had a power-play opportunity midway through the third, but could only manage two off-target shots during those two minutes.
- Bri Rockwood '28 provided an insurance goal for the Continentals with 5:26 left. Rockwood controlled the puck in the right corner and kept possession by playing it off the right-side boards. She quickly cut towards the net, deked a defender in the right circle and flicked a wrist shot past the goaltender just a few feet from the right post.
- Jamie Porter '28 completed the scoring on an empty-net goal with 43.8 seconds remaining when she knocked in a loose puck from the bottom of the right circle.
- Lydia Bullock '26 got Hamilton off to a quick start 26 seconds into the first period. Katie Allen '33 sent a backhand centering pass towards the low slot, Grace Crowley '26 tied up her defender so Bowdoin couldn't clear the puck, and Bullock flipped it into the goal from near the left post.
- Molly Cataldo drew the Polar Bears even at 9:28 of the first, and Elena DiMagno gave Bowdoin a 2-1 edge 6:06 into the second period.
